What can I
expect from a workshop and what do I need to wear?
During the workshop you will learn the basic dance moves of
burlesque, everything from caresses to bumps, grinds and shimmies,
as well as glove removal, striptease, prop work, and
characterization. You will need to wear a skirt and top or dress
that you feel comfortable moving in, also bring flat shoes and
heels, later on during the classes you will need to bring a
dressing gown and long sleeved shirt and gloves.

I don't feel
confident about my body and feel shy
The beauty about
burlesque is that it embraces every shape and size, wobbly bits
are MORE than welcome in burlesque! Performers come in many
packages, some short, some tall, some curvaceous, some thin, some
with red hair, some with blonde etc. Many girls who message me
about the classes have a body hang up so everyone in the workshop
and even past and present performers will have hang ups about
various parts of their bodies. Burlesque really helps with body
confidence as it gets you back in touch with your femininity which
is so easy to lose through the media images we are presented with
today. Marilyn Monroe was a perfect example of a curvy beautiful
woman, that’s what I want to get women back in touch with,
wiggle your bum, hold your head up high, throw your shoulders back
and smile, its amazing what a simple move like that can do. How
ever you might feel please remember there will be many other girls
who feel the same.

I have no dance
training whatsoever and have two left feet, can I still do
burlesque?
Well
I seem to do okay despite having no dance training and two left
feet! Burlesque is fun and it’s a giggle, you don’t need to be
a professional dancer nor do you need to have strict choreographed
moves, as long as you are having fun that’s all the audience
want to see whether its to a crowd, a partner or yourself.

Will I have to
take all my clothes off?
Not
at all. The striptease part of the workshops will be done over
your normal clothes. You will not asked be asked to do anything
you don’t feel confident or comfortable doing. By all means if
you do wish to strip we will not stop you!

I don’t know
anyone else who wants to go and feel self conscious about going on
my own
I have known
several girls to attend the workshops on their own before and you
will find other girls who have done the same. If you ever feel shy
then please ring or email me and I can meet you for coffee or chat
on the phone so at least you will have one familiar face there.
After a few classes you will feel a lot more comfortable being with
all the other girls.

Could I go on
and perform after the workshops if I wanted to?
Simple answer: Yes
you could. I hold a night after the workshops specifically for new
people and people who have done the workshops. Its an opportunity to
get up on stage to a lovely friendly audience and give it go to see
if you enjoy performing.
